Petrobal and Fieldwood win the Contract Area 4 in the Second Bid Round One

On September 30, 2015, Petrobal S.A.P.I. de CV, in consortium with the company Fieldwood Energy LLC ( "Fieldwood") were the winners of the Contractual Area 4 bidded by the Mexican Government through the National Commission of Hydrocarbons (“CNH”) in the second tender of the Round One during the Energy Reform . This second tender is for the award of contracts for extraction of hydrocarbons in shallow waters

The Contract Area 4 has an area of 58 km2 and consists of two oil fields: Ichalkil and Pokoch, which are located in the Campeche area, about 42 km from the coast and at 30 to 45 meters depth. The fields contain 1P reserves of 41.4 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMBOE), 2P and 3P 85.4 MMBOE 190.6 MMBOE.

Fieldwood is an American company, based in Houston, Texas, part of the Riverstone Holdings LLC firm private equity portfolio. Fieldwood focuses on the acquisition and development of oil fields and gas production in North America, including the Gulf of Mexico. Riverside Holdings LLC is headquartered in New York and manages portofolio of funds with which has funded multiple investments in the energy and power sector in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

Fieldwood is directed by Matt McCarroll and other experienced executives which previously formed part of the company Dynamic Offshore Resources LLC, one of the major operators in the Gulf of Mexico.
